Breathtaking valley views of Mission Creek, Layer Cake Mountain, Kirschner Mountain, Rutland, South East Kelowna and Kelowna Mission can be seen looking down the lake from this secret lookout at Black Mountain Sntsk‘il’ntən Regional Park, Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada.
Sntsk‘il’ntən (sins – te – KEEL – ten) comes from the sylix language and translates to “the place where arrowheads/flint is found.” Over the past hundred years, Black Mountain has been used as a forest fire lookout, a ski hill called the Ski Bowl, and for cattle grazing. Original 24x48 acrylic on canvas created in November 2020 for a private collection.
